BOYS Spring 2019 Lacrosse

KAPRB Blue Demons Boys Lacrosse is a youth lacrosse program open to student athletes residing in the Kennett Consolidated School District.  Our mission as a non-profit organization is to provide a safe and competitive environment devoted to promoting educational, recreational and competitive lacrosse activities for elementary & middle school students.  Sportsmanship and teamwork are critical and emphasized at all levels. 

Season Overview

-We participate and follow the rules and directives of CCLA - Chester County Lacrosse Association

-KAPRB Lacrosse program is open to families living in the Kennett Consolidated School District

-KBDL is a competitive travel lacrosse league that competes against other leagues in the CCLA for 10U, 12U and 14U age levels

-CCLA sets the game and referee schedule

-CCLA 2019 game season will run from late March through May 

-Weather permitting, practice will begin in early March

-There will be no practice or games scheduled during Memorial Day Weekend

-Each team entered into the scheduling process will play 10-12 regular season games

-Prior to the regular season we will generally practice 2-3 days a week at Kennett Middle School, Greenwood Elementary, Kennett High School or Legacy Field

-Deadline for registration is January 31st, 2019

-Early bird discount of $25 ENDS January 17th, 2019 

-Uniform Store will open in January to make purchases if your player does not have a uniform yet or has outgrown last years 

-We follow US Lacrosse age grouping guidelines. A players grouping will be based on his AGE ON August 2018 as follows: 

  • If he is 8 or 9 on that day, he is in the “10U” division
  • If he is 10 or 11 on that day, he is in the “12U” division
  • If he is 12 or 13 on that day, or if he is 14 and in 8th grade, he is in the “14U” division

Spring 2019 Registration Information:

6U (born between September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2014) 

This age group offers basic instruction with next to no contact.  The goal is to introduce lacrosse, beginner skills, simulated game situations and have fun!  Depending on number enrolled, players may be separated by one or more of the following: age, grade, size and experience.  

  • No helmets or pads required, sneakers required
  • We will use soft lacrosse balls
  • 1 practice per week
  • No games
  • Registration fee $95 with early bird discount, $120 starting January 18th,2019
  • Registration includes a new stick for each player 
  • No jersey required

8U (born between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2012)

This age group offers basic and fundamental instruction with limited contact.  The goal is to continue to introduce lacrosse skills and simulated game situations while showing the fun of the sport! Each player will receive substantially equal playing time.  Depending on number enrolled, players may be separated by one or more of the following: age, grade, size and experience.  

  • Helmet, mouth guard, shoulder and elbow pads and gloves required. Sneakers are fine, cleats optional
  • Practice 2 nights per week
  •  CCLA does not schedule games at this level so Saturday or Sunday play-days (multiple games vs different teams at same location) are scheduled independently with other organizations by the Coaches
  • Registration fee $170 with early bird, $195 starting January 18th, 2019
  • Registration includes a new stick for each player
  • 1 KBD Jersey for games and practices and KBD shorts will be required for each player

10U (born between September 1, 2008 and August 31, 2010)

The 10U program offers fundamental instruction for the new player and advanced or intermediate skill development for the experienced player.  Dependent on the number enrolled and skill level of players,  the 10U age group may be divided into 3 skill levels, A, B & C and competes in a 8-12 game schedule (usually 2 games per week on Weds and Sat).   The A division consists of experienced players with advanced skills; the B level usually includes experienced players with intermediate skills and some beginners and the C level is most appropriate for beginners or players with a year’s experience or less.  Evaluation for the A team will occur in March, with team assignments made by the coaching staff. 

  • Practice 2 nights per week
  •  Each player/parent must provide their own equipment including a stick, shoulder pads, elbow/arm pads, gloves, helmet, mouth guard and cleats/sneakers
  • Registration fee $220 with early bird discount, $245 starting January 18th, 2019
  • Game jersey included with registration fee and must be returned at end of season
  • 1 KBD practice pinnie and KBD shorts will be required for each player.  It is not necessary to purchase new items if the old ones still fit.
  • League rules require the use of lacrosse helmet for all 10U players.  

12U (born between September 1, 2006 and August 31, 2008) 

The 12U program offers both fundamental instruction for the new player and advanced skill development for the experienced player. Our mission is to prepare players for middle school teams, high school and/or travel team programs. Dependent on the number and skill level of players, teams are divided into A, B & C level teams and compete in a 10-12 game CCLA schedule with playoffs usually 2 games per week on Mon or Tues and Sat . 

  • Practice 2 -3 nights per week
  •  Each player/parent must provide their own equipment including a stick, shoulder pads, elbow/arm pads, gloves, helmet, mouth guard and cleats/sneakers
  • Registration fee $220 with early bird discount, $245 starting January 18th, 2019 
  • Game jersey included with registration fee and must be returned at end of season
  • 1 KBD practice pinnie and KBD shorts will be required for each player.  It is not necessary to purchase new items if the old ones still fit.
  • League rules require the use of lacrosse helmet for all 12U players.  

14U (born between September 1, 2004 and August 31, 2006)

The 14U program offers both fundamental instruction for the new player and advanced skill development for the experienced player. Our mission is to prepare players for middle school teams, high school and/or competitive advanced travel team programs. Dependent on the number enrolled and skill level of players, teams are divided into A, B & C level teams and compete in a 10-12 game CCLA schedule with playoffs usually Thurs and Sat.

  • Practice 2 -3 nights per week
  •  Each player/parent must provide their own equipment including a stick, shoulder pads, elbow/arm pads, gloves, helmet, mouth guard, cleats/sneakers
  • Registration fee $220 with early bird discount, $245 starting January 18th, 2019 
  • Game jersey included with registration fee and must be returned at end of season

Girls SPRING 2019 Lacrosse

​Get Excited for Girls LAX!!!!  Spring 2019 season is fast approaching!!

Our mission with the Girls Blue Demons Lacrosse Program is to provide a FUN environment for township lacrosse while focusing on developing and strengthening fundamental skills, field positioning, and game play.  Sportsmanship and teamwork are critical and emphasized at all levels.  We participate and follow the rules and directives of PAGLA - Philadelphia Area Girls Lacrosse Association.

KAPRB Lacrosse program is open to families living in the Kennett Consolidated School District.

The Girls program is broken out by grades, not age.

Season Overview

- Season will run mid March - May.  Possible winter clinics may be available prior to mid-March.

- Practices will be 2 days/week

- Games mostly on Saturdays (occasional Sunday could be scheduled).  No games Memorial Day weekend.

K/1/2nd Grades -Games are played half-field 4 v. 4 players

Note: While we do accept and support Kindergarteners, please understand lacrosse can be a challenging sport at this age.  Please consider your child’s level of interest in the sport and comfort level in a team/game setting.

3rd/4th Grades - Games are played half-field 7 v. 7 players. Players will learn offensive, mid-field and defensive positions as well as the restaining line rule in lacrosse.

Games for K-4th grade could vary between traditional style of 2 halves or a Round-robin format of playing 2-3 15/20 min games against different teams.

5th/6th Grades - Games are played full field 11 v. 11 with goalie. Traditional game format of 2 25-minute halves.

EQUALLY balanced teams will be created for all teams K-6th Grade.  Our goal is to provide equal play-time for all players as best as possible

7th/8th Grades - Games are played full field 11 v. 11 with goalie. Traditional game format of 2 25-minute halves. This team will be an A level team and previous lacrosse playing experience is required as we are a "Game Only" team. There will be no weekly practices, just weekend games.

NOTE:  At this time, we are offering 2 teams at the 5th/6th grades and 1 team for 7/8 grades.  Teams are filled by order of paid registration.   Please register for the waitlist if the teams are full so we know the number of players who are intersted in playing.  We will need to find additional coaches to field more teams.  Please reach out if you would like to volunteer to coach.

Equipment:

- Girls Lacrosse Stick

- Protective eye wear (goggles)

- Mouth guard

- Cleats/Sneakers

All equipment is mandatory for practices and games.  Players will be asked to sit out for safety reasons if equipment is missing.  Keep extra mouth guards on hand as they are commonly lost.

Registration - Early Bird Pricing until January 17th

K/1/2Grades - $110 / $135 after January 17th

3rd/4th Grades - $150 / $175 after January 17th

5th/6th - $150 / $175 after January 17th

7th/8th - $85 / $110 after January 17th

Payment for the season needs to be made at time of registration.

Uniforms

Game uniforms will be a Blue Demons reversible pinnie and a royal blue skort.  

Pinnies, Skorts and Shooting Shirts will be available to purchase if you do not have these pieces from previous seasons.  Skorts are the same as field hockey and previous lacrosse seasons so you do not need to purchase a new one if you already have one that fits.  Shooting shirts are optional.  Our online uniform store will open in January to make purchases if necessary.
